Your best life? By Marcel and Jacqueline Bruff

Your best life?

As believers in Jesus Christ, we are caught between two worlds. On one hand, we live on this

earth, surrounded by its temptations, trials, and tribulations. On the other hand, our true

citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20), and we are called to live as strangers and aliens in

this world (1 Peter 2:11).

Jesus emphasizes this tension in the Beatitudes, where He promises that "theirs is the kingdom

of heaven" (Matthew 5:3, 10). As Bible teacher D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones notes, this phrase serves as a reminder that believers belong to a different kingdom, one that is not of this world.

As Christians, we can expect to face persecution and hatred from the world. Jesus warns us of this in John 15:19-20, saying, "If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you." This hatred is not because of who we are, but because of who we represent – Jesus

Christ.

Living as Aliens and Strangers

So, how do we live as Christians in a world that is hostile to our faith? We must remember that

our true home is in heaven, and that we are just passing through this world. We must live as

aliens and strangers, keeping our eyes fixed on our eternal destination (1 Peter 2:11-12).

Conclusion

Living as a Christian in a secular world can be challenging, but it's also a privilege. We are

called to be salt and light in a world that desperately needs it (Matthew 5:13-16). Let us

remember that our true citizenship is in heaven, and that we are living for a kingdom that is not of this world.

Your best life? Realistically, is not here in the broken temporal world, we only pass this way

once in a lifetime, I've conducted enough funerals as well as hospital visits, to earn the right to speak with saints. Wisdom says stay faithful in all your trials and tribulation! The first miracle Jesus did, turning water into wine,is profound, and the takeaway is, “GOD SAVES THE BEST FOR LAST”

Romans 8:18.

"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the

glory which shall be revealed in us".

Reflection Questions

1. Are you experiencing your best life now?

3. What does it mean to you to have your citizenship in heaven?

4. How can you live as a stranger and alien in this world, while still engaging with the culture

around you?

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the promise of the kingdom of heaven. Help us to remember that our true

citizenship is in heaven, and that we are living for a kingdom that is not of this world. Give us the

courage to live as strangers and aliens in this world, and to be salt and light in a world that

desperately needs it.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen2. How are you handling the tension of living in two worlds as a Christian
