Who has your back?

Who do you rely on when things get sticky? When there are no monies in the bank account and the bill collector are pounding at your door, who can you run to? Friends have forsaken you and you are feeling like the world is coming down on you, who is your help? Who is it that tends to your needs?

Who is it that’s in your corner? As my dear sister prayed this very morning, she used this analogy; it’s Boxing Day December 26 and you are in a boxing match, who is your corner man? Societal worries can lead even a Christian into depression. Loneliness has even become a weapon the enemy uses in this time. Who is it that comforts you?

Who had David’s back when he was under attack by King Saul and his army? Who had the Israelites back when they were pursued by Pharoah? They had mountains on either side, the Red Sea in front and Pharoah’s armies behind them. Who is it that provided a ram in the ticket for Abraham, when he was about to slaughter his son? Who is it that provided Naomi with a Boaz during a crucial stage of his life? Who do you depend on?

Saints of God, I submit to you Psalm 27, the God David spoke about in this Psalm, He is the One the has my back. Verse 10, “when my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” Verse 1 says, “the Lord I s my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid? Jesus has my back, who has yours?
