Where is your heart in relation to your mind?

Friends, this topic has been on my mind from last week. It was also a part of a spirited conversation we had on our prayer line. A few days later, a couple of close friends from my previous Church came to visit. The matter of the heart and the mind just overwhelmed my thoughts after they left because of what we conversed about.

The things that we do and say is dependent on both our mind and our heart. These two are closely related but has distinct differences. The Bible says in Luke 6:45, “a good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of heart his mouth speaketh.”

Philippians 2:5, “let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Our mind governs our thoughts, reasoning, understanding and intellectual capabilities. Our heart on the other-hand encapsulates our affections, emotions, desires and God’s will. The heart is where we build faith and process God’s word and make decisions based on the word. Luke 16:15, “…. but God knoweth your hearts ….” The heart is where we interact with God, the mind is where we reason out those interactions.

Who has your heart, is it God?
