We read in Matt. 24:14 (NKJV) "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." Before the end of the current age, "this" not "the" gospel of kingdom must be preached in the whole world. We know that people from EVERY language, nation and ethnic group shall be before God's throne and that will not happen unless those people hear the gospel. To this end Jesus teach us how to pray and what we should disciple people to do. Let us look at 2 scriptures: - Matt. 9:37 - 38 (NASB) "Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”" and Mk. 16:15 - 18 (NKJV) "And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who [d]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Our job is pray for labourers to be released into the job of reaping God's harvest and leading people to the Lord with the intent of them carrying on the work of preaching the gospel with convincing signs of the truth of the gospel. We have been guilty of encouraging people to come to Jesus only to have their needs met and not to be those who get involved with meeting needs. We should encourage people to not just be recipients but producers; those who bear fruit.
