God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called by Marcel & Jacqueline Bruff

Have you ever felt too small, too broken, or too late for what God is asking of you?

That feeling is so human. We look at the task and then look at ourselves and think, “I’m not ready for this.”

But God doesn’t work the way the world does. The world hires based on a resume. God calls based on a relationship.

"God doesn’t Call the Qualified, He Qualifies the Called."

He doesn’t wait for you to get it all together before He uses you. He calls you, and then He walks with you until you become who He’s called you to be.

Here are 3 truths to remember when you feel unqualified:

1. God Chooses Ordinary People and Puts His Extraordinary Power in Them.

We love to disqualify ourselves because of our background, mistakes, or lack of skills. But God has a history of picking the unlikely.

Moses stuttered. Gideon was the least in his family. David was just a shepherd boy. Peter was a fisherman with a temper. None of them looked “qualified” on paper.

“But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.” (1 Corinthians 1:27)

Your weakness is not a barrier to God. It’s the place where His strength shows up best. He’s not looking for perfect people. He’s looking for willing people.

2. God Equips You for What He Calls You To.

God never calls you to something and then leaves you to figure it out alone. The moment He calls you, He also begins to equip you.

He gives you grace, wisdom, people, and His Spirit to do what He’s asked. You don’t have to have it all before you start. You just have to take the first step of obedience.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)

If God called you, He already sees the finished version of you. He’s not done with you yet. Trust the process. He will teach you, grow you, and provide what you need along the way.

3. God’s Calling Is About His Glory, Not Your Resume.

The point of the calling is never to make you look good. It’s to show how good God is. When He uses someone with flaws, fears, and failures, no one can take credit but Him.

That takes the pressure off. You don’t have to perform. You just have to surrender and let Him work through you.

“Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant.”

(2 Corinthians 3:5-6)

Stop asking “Am I enough?” and start asking “Is God enough?” Because He is. His sufficiency becomes yours the moment you say “yes” to Him.

Friend, you don’t have to wait until you feel qualified.

The same God who called Abraham, Esther, and Paul is calling you today.

He’s not intimidated by your past. He’s not limited by your present.

He qualifies the called by His presence, His Word, and His Spirit.

So take the step. Say yes. Let Him do in you what you could never do for yourself.

Dear heavenly Father,

Thank You that You don’t call the qualified, You qualify the called.

Forgive me for the times I’ve talked myself out of what You’ve put on my heart because I felt unworthy or unready.

Today I say yes again.

Equip me with Your wisdom. Strengthen me with Your Spirit.

Use my ordinary life to show Your extraordinary power.

Let people see You, not me, in all that I do.

I trust that You who began a good work in me will complete it.
