Soaring like Eagles by Marcel & Jacqueline Bruff

Soaring Like Eagles

(Article for 7th October 2025)

As Christians, we are called to rise above the challenges and difficulties of this world. We are called to soar like eagles, to walk in faith, and to trust in the goodness and sovereignty of God. In this article, we will explore the symbolism of the eagle, and how we can apply its characteristics to our own lives.

The Parable of the Eagle

An eagle was once perched atop a mountain, soaring high above the landscape. A wise old owl approached the eagle and asked, "Why do you soar so high?" The eagle replied, "I soar high because I am meant to. I am meant to rise above the challenges of this world and to see things from a higher perspective."

The owl looked at the eagle with curiosity and asked, "But what about when the storms come? What about when the winds are strong and the rain is heavy?" The eagle looked at the owl with confidence and said, "I am not afraid of the storms. I am not afraid of the winds and the rain. For I know that I am strong, and I know that I can ride out any storm."

The Characteristics of the Eagle

The eagle is a symbol of strength, courage, and resilience. It is a bird that soars high above the landscape, riding the thermals and the wind currents with ease. It is a bird that is not afraid of the storms, but rather uses them to its advantage.

As Christians, we can learn from the characteristics of the eagle. We can learn to be strong in the face of adversity, to be courageous in the face of fear, and to be resilient in the face of challenges. We can learn to ride out the storms of life, to trust in the goodness and sovereignty of God, and to soar high above the difficulties of this world.

The Promise of God

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." - Isaiah 40:31

The Bible promises that those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. This is a promise that is available to all who put their trust in God.

As we face the challenges and difficulties of this world, let us remember the promise of God. Let us remember that we are called to soar like eagles, to rise above the storms and to see things from a higher perspective. Let us trust in the goodness and sovereignty of God, and let us ride out the storms of life with confidence and courage.

Questions and Reflections

- Are we trusting in the goodness and sovereignty of God?

- Are we rising above the challenges and difficulties of this world?

- Are we soaring like eagles, or are we stuck in the mud?

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the promise of your Word. We thank you for the characteristics of the eagle, and for the strength, courage, and resilience that it represents. Help us to trust in your goodness and sovereignty, to rise above the challenges and difficulties of this world, and to soar like eagles. May we ride out the storms of life with confidence and courage, and may we always remember the promise of your Word.

Amen.
