Roll Back the Water by Minister Owen Mitchell

Roll Back the Water

Got you any rivers you think that are uncrossable? Got you any mountain you cannot tunnel through? God specializes in things that are impossible, He will do for you what no other power can do. How great is our God, how great is His name? He is the greatest God, forever the same. He rolled back the waters, of the mighty Red Sea. He said, I will never leave you, so put your trust in Me.

“Roll back the water” symbolizes God’s sovereignty (God’s supreme power and authority). It unlocks the door of God’s judgement and salvation. It speaks to His ability to make a way when there seems to be no way. It also points to the authoritative power of God to control the forces of nature; God is able to save His people.

Twice God proved Himself faithful to the Israelites by rolling back the water; during the Exodus (Exodus 14) and the entering into the Promised Land, Joshua 3. Whenever the Israelites backs were against the wall, God rolled back the water. “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee,” Isaiah 43:2.

The rolling back of water, started from the creation of the world, when God divided the firmament from the waters, Genesis 1:6-7. Job 12:15, “behold, He withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also He sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.” This was one of Job’s responses to his friends. Saints of God, I pray this will be our response to every obstacle we face today. Our Sovereign God is able to roll the water away so we can walk on dry land.

God Bless.
