Put On….

In Joshua 24:15, Joshua gave the people a choice, “choose you this day whom ye will serve” …. And he concluded with this statement, “but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Our ability to choose is called free will, meaning to freely choose your course of action.

I have come to the realization that many of the challenges we face are because of our choices. Many of the battles we fight are because we did not “Put On”. Romans 13:14 directs us “but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, ….” Ephesian 4:24, “…. Put on the new man, ….” Ephesians 6:11, “put on the whole armour ….” Colossians 3:12, “put on …. bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering, ….”

To put on in the Greek is enduo. This word speaks of a newness, the stripping away of the old and clothing ourselves with the new. New righteousness, character, identity and having a new spiritual position. Putting on is granting the Lord full access to our being. Revelation 3:20 says, “behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him and he with Me.”

By putting on daily, we are saying to the Lord, access granted. If we decide not to give the Lord full access through our free will, who or what are we giving this access? Who is in control of us? God has given us free will to make our own decisions. I pray we realize the importance of using this free will to “put on” every morning.

God Bless.
