Numbering Our Days
We have crossed over from 2023 into 2024. This is another milestone on the journey of life. This new calendar year brings expectations and anticipation for some, hope for some and challenges for others.
Nevertheless, one thing remains common among all, we are mortal beings and our lives have an expiration date. We only pass this way once in a lifetime.
In ancient times when a Roman general rode into town he'd victoriously conquered, a slave known as a Charioteer told him, “Remember that thou art mortal.” This humbling notion has similar connotations to “ashes to ashes, dust to dust.” Ashes to ashes reminds us that we are human, flesh and fragile. We can do nothing outside of God’s will, perfect or permissive. Ultimately when our lives end, we will return to the earth as dust when our bodies decay.
This pride check given to the general in ancient times and which still relates to us today, may have sounded uneasy, and we probably don’t like to hear it. Yes, we love, care and groom our bodies, however, in death, after three days this flesh swells and stinks. How unpleasant, but all this actually reminds us of the unpredictable events of life and unforeseen circumstances that can happen in the blink of an eye.
This is important and a sober reminder that one needs to secure salvation. We all must acknowledge that we can’t do this journey of life on our own. We need a Saviour.
Jesus Christ is the sacrificial substitute for all humanity.
"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
Once we die there is no reincarnation or return. There is no repentance in the grave.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord" (Romans 6:23).
There is only one remedy for this broken world and man's sinful soul, the greatest and best selling book of all times gives the answers of why we die and the free will we have to choose life.
The choice of where you'll spend eternity is in your hand.
Please, We encourage you to do the right thing.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
