Liberals and Conservatives by Marcel and Jacqueline Bruff

Liberals and Conservatives.

(A Word for the Saints)

"God wants us to be liberals in our praises, prayers, and worship, God wants us to be conservative in our fleshly-selfish desires.”

In today's world, the chasm between liberals and conservatives seems to be growing exponentially. The debate has transcended the realm of politics, spilling into our everyday lives, and pitting us against one another.

The Bible reminds us that our struggle is not against each other, but against the supernatural forces of evil. As Ephesians 6:12 states, "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."

So, how do we bridge the divide and unite as one? The Bible offers wisdom and guidance on this matter.

The Need for Unity

In Psalm 133:1, we are reminded that "behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" Unity is not about uniformity, but about embracing our differences and working together towards a common goal.

As the apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, "For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit."

Solutions for Liberals and conservatives.

So, what can we do to unite a divided world?

1. Practice Empathy. Put yourself in others' shoes and try to understand their perspective. As Romans 12:15 states, "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep."

2. Engage in Respectful Dialogue. Learn to disagree without being disagreeable. As Proverbs 18:13 states, "He who answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame to him."

3. Seek Common Ground. Focus on the things that unite us, rather than those that divide us. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

As we reflect on the state of our world, let us remember that we are all in this together. We can agree to disagree without insults or violence. We can unite as one, despite our differences.

A Prayer for Unity

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, humbled by the divisions that plague our world. We ask that You would grant us wisdom, empathy, and understanding, that we might unite as one.

Help us to see beyond our differences and to focus on the things that unite us. Give us the courage to engage in respectful dialogue and to seek common ground.

We pray for Your guidance and direction, that we might become a beacon of hope in a divided world.

In Jesus' name, we pray.

Amen.
