Glorying in Weakness
“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in destresses, for Christ’s sake: ….” 2 Corinthians 12:10. Paul went on to say in Romans 8:28, “and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to His purpose.”
Think about it, all things work together for good; the infirmities, reproaches, necessities, persecutions and destresses. Every injustice against a Christian is for our good and God’s glory. Many will think of this scripture (2 Corinthians 12:10) as being the opposite of encouragement. Paul said to his son Timothy, “if we suffer, we shall also reign we Him: ….”, 2:12.
In infirmities – in our weakness, in reproaches – in contempt, insults and scorn, in necessities – in want, in distresses – in needs and difficulties; we will evidence the power of God. A Christian’s weakness is not to push us to hide but to glory in God’s grace. Understanding this, it will strengthen us and allow us to delight in our weaknesses, in insults, hardships and persecutions. Our reliance is not in our own strength but on God’s power.
Philippians 4:13 states, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Therefore I take pleasure; suggesting the benefits, the favors and the privilege of suffering for Christ’s sake. James 1:2, “my brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations,” (various trials NKJV). Are you glorying in weakness?
God Bless.
