What Jesus will do for us by Minister Carol Chambers

Updated: 4 days ago

There was a soldier sitting outside the White House, and he was crying. A little boy saw him and walked up to him and asked, “What’s wrong?”

The soldier replied, “I came to see the president, but I can’t get in.”

The little boy looked at him and said, “Yeah, it’s hard to see the president, but come on.” Then he grabbed his hand.

The soldier stood up, and together they walked past the guardhouse, and nobody stopped them. They crossed the White House lawn, and nobody questioned them. They entered the foyer of the White House, and still no one said a word. Finally, they walked into the Oval Office, right up to Abraham Lincoln, and the little boy said:

“Dad, this man would like to talk to you.”

That is exactly what Jesus does for us.

No matter how broken, weary, ashamed, or burdened we are, Jesus takes us by the hand and leads us into the presence of the Father. He brings us before the throne of grace and says:

"Father, this person needs Your help. We need to talk to You.”

This is why prayer should be the first thing we do — not the last thing we try.

When people reject you, prayer gives you access to God. When life becomes heavy, prayer gives you strength. When fear surrounds you, prayer gives you peace. When doors close around you, prayer opens Heaven.

The Holy Bible says:

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16).

Jesus is the reason we can come boldly before God. We do not approach the Father alone; we come through Christ.

“For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.” (Ephesians 2:18).

Prayer changes things because God listens when His children cry out to Him.

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” (Jeremiah 33:3).

Even when you feel weak and do not know what to pray, Jesus still intercedes for you.

“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” (Hebrews 7:25).

Prayer brings peace in the middle of storms.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6–7).

And when you seek God first, He promises to direct your path.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5–6).

Never underestimate what happens when you pray. Heaven hears. Jesus intercedes. Grace responds. And the Father lovingly listens to every word spoken in faith.
