Trust God’s Promises
Do we Christians genuinely trust God’s promises? As I reflect on life, I have come to the realization that trusting God is a major issue in our Christian Walk. Trust can be seen throughout the Bible and we also see lack of trust. In Proverbs 3:5&6, the Bible says, “trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” The simplicity of “trust,” to this day has not yet been perfected in our lives, even though it’s the foundation of Christianity.
Trust, in the Hebrew is Batach, literally meaning to be safe and confident, putting our full weight on something. It is the daily action of living out the truth of God’s word. Promise is defined as a binding agreement, a declaration or commitment made by God through His faithfulness and covenant. In short, our trust activates God’s promises.
“So shall thou find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man,” verse 4. This trust, “shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones,” verse 8. God is committed to His promises. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end,” Jeremiah 29:11.
Trust in God does not mean that everything we need is automatically given. It is actually saying, whatever God chooses to do, we will accept. Our confidence must be in the Lord’s will for our lives. God knows what is best for us. Let us trust God today and all His promises.
God Bless.
