To Root Out, Pull Down, Destroy and Throw Down!
Echoing the words the Lord spoke to Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:10. “See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, ….”
After listening to a message on Jeremiah 1:1-9 and climaxing at verse 10, I was left with this question in my mind. Am I rooting out, pulling down, destroying and throwing down? The Lord gave the prophet authority to pronounce destruction on that which wasn’t planted or constructed by Him. Do we have the same mandate and the same power today?
To root out means, the destruction of anything planted, pulling down refers to a building or construction. To destroy is to rend asunder and to throw down is to tear into pieces. Do we have that same mandate today? Jesus in Luke 10:19, gave the disciples “…. power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing by any means shall hurt you.”
In Jeremiah 1:10, the verse ended with these words, “…. to build and to plant.” This build and plant refers to what the Holy Spirit does through us when we have received Him. Acts 1:8 says, “but ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost (Spirit) is come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” So I ask us this question: are we rooting out, pulling down, destroying, throwing down? Are we building and planting?
God Bless.
