Stay on the Path

Acts 21:10-11, “…. A certain prophet, named Agabus. And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him in the hands of the Gentiles,” Acts 21:11.

After Paul’s encounter with God (Acts 9) and his decision to follow Christ, he determined in his heart come what may, “I will stay on the path”. 2 Corinthians 11:23-29 gives an account of Paul’s sufferings that he endured for Christ and the gospel. To the church at Corinth he explained, “…. In stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in death oft,” vs. 23, to name a few. Even though Paul was warned about his imprisonment, he stayed on the path.

To stay on the path requires us to know the path. As Christians we have come into contact with the Path, the Lord God Almighty. After knowing Who the Path is, we now need to walk in the path. Psalm 119:35 says, “make me to go in the path of thy commandments, for therein I delight.”

We have allowed our individual struggles to make us err from the path. Our issues of life have become our teachers. Making us rely on self as opposed to relying on the true Path, which is God. Pressures of bills, peers, loved ones, illnesses and pressures on the job have caused us to turn from the Truth. Irrespective of the struggles Paul faced, he stayed the path. I encourage you to put God first and He will see you through.

God Bless.
