Seeing is believing by Minister Owen Mitchell

Seeing is Believing

“Seeing is believing” is an idiom that’s used so much in our society today. This idiom is perpetuated by satan to discredit the word of God. Seeing it (whatever it is) is believing it.

In society, this concept deals with the ability to physically see something before believing. Man’s mind is convicted by their eyesight, hence the belief. Seeing is the controlling factor that manipulates their conduct. This conduit satan uses to try and poke holes in the Christian belief.

In John 20:19-23, after Jesus’ resurrection, He showed Himself to His disciples in the absence of Thomas. In verse 26, He showed Himself again while Thomas was with them. After Jesus proved Himself to Thomas He said, “…. because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed,” vs. 29.

The concept of us Christians is different, believing (faith) is seeing. 2 Corinthians 5:7, “for we walk by faith, not by sight.” Luke 7, speaks of a centurion whose servant was sick and when he heard of Jesus’ coming, he sent servants to ask Jesus to come and heal him. But while Jesus was a far off, he asked Jesus just to speak the word and his servant would be healed. Jesus said of the centurion in vs. 9, “…. I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.”

Seeing is not believing for us, believing is seeing.

God Bless.
