Radiate even in the midst of the storm by Minister Owen Mitchell

"They looked unto Him and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed,” Psalm 34:5.

My whole being shivered while I listened to a friend speak of her visit to the hospital. She went to visit a friend who was in a lot of pain because of her leg amputation. As she detailed her visit, it was evident the effect it had on her. The thought of having no legs, kidney issues and not being able to do anything for herself, crushed me. If that wasn’t enough, earlier in the day while speaking to another friend, she spoke about her inability to smell or taste. Out of the five senses given to us three were not active, the third being her sight. But God!

Brothers and sisters, I heard a Pastor make this statement, “it’s either you just came out of something or going through something or fixing to go through something.” We are all faced with issues and challenges of some sort but the Bible instructs us to look unto Him. Once we look to God, we will find light and comfort. This is an earnest gaze of faith and confidence.

Lightened (Nahar in Hebrew), is translated radiant in the New King James Version. This word radiant means streams of light or floods of light, which actually reflects God’s Divine glory. One theologian puts it this way, “he who approaches God will receive a ray of intellectual light.” While going through storms, are we enlightened, are we radiating?

This verse assures us that irrespective of the challenges we face, God is always available to brighten our day. So today I pray into your situation and mine, as we look up by faith to our God who is able to make us not ashamed.

God Bless.
