From Luke 24

I didn’t know it was Him at first. As we walked along that road, my heart was heavy with everything that had happened—confusion, disappointment, and grief. Then this man joined us. He spoke with such authority, opening the Scriptures in a way I had never understood before. Something stirred deep within me, but still, I did not recognise Him.

When we reached our destination, I felt a strong urge not to let Him go. There was something about His presence—comforting, yet powerful. So we asked Him to stay with us. As we sat at the table, He took the bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to us. And in that very moment, everything changed. My eyes were opened. It was Jesus Christ—alive, right there with us.

Before I could even speak, He vanished.

I sat there, overwhelmed. Then I turned and said, “Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” It all made sense now. What I had felt along the way was not imagination—it was His presence, stirring my spirit, drawing me closer, even when I didn’t yet see Him clearly.

Now I understand: even when I could not recognise Him, He was with me. He was speaking, teaching, and setting my heart on fire. And when the moment came, He revealed Himself—not just to my eyes, but to my spirit.

Often Christ may be present and working in our lives even when we do not yet recognise Him, but through the Word and intimate fellowship, our eyes will be opened and our faith awakened.
