One accord by Minister Owen Mitchell

“And these continue with one accord in prayer and supplication….,” Acts 1:14. “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place,” Acts 2:1. “And they continuing daily with one accord in the temple….,” Acts 2:46.

The book of Acts is known as the Acts of the Apostles but theologians refers to it as the Acts of the Holy Spirit. Acts marks the start of the Church era and emphasize the phrase “With One Accord”. My thought perplexing question is, what would have happened if they were not on one accord?

One accord means “of one mind”, specifically referring to a group acting as one. One accord signifies unification within the body, within a group, within the Church. Being on one accord releases power from on High, power to defeat the plans of the enemy. Mark 3:24-25 says, “And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” If the kingdom of darkness needs unity to carry out their plans, how much more Christians. Joshua 9:1-2, tells us how the enemies of the Israelites were with one accord to fight with them.

In Luke 24:49, Jesus told the disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until they were endued with power from High. While they waited on this power the Bible said they continued, which in itself shows how unified they were. Everything the Lord promises us, He will give but we have to be obedient, be in the right position and of the right posture.

“Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like-minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: that ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Romans 15:5&6.

God Bless.
