The moral laws are written on the conscience of man
Years ago while watching the Oprah Winfrey show she asked the question, "what about all the people that lived before Jesus Christ was revealed to mankind?" This was indeed a great question, and the intellectuals on the show were quick to jump to conclusions that it wasn't answerable. However this is not a question on Intelligence but conscience.
All humans have morality written on their conscience, the Arawak Indians, the native people in Africa, the Eskimo people far and gone, all pre-messianic humans knew right from wrong whether they chose their freewill to do good or evil they will be judged by God's commandments. These commands are called the moral law and are intrinsic, placed within our minds and hearts by our creator.
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" (Romans 1:18-20).
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (which is in the New Testament, dealing with God's moral law) says, "do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."
The ten commandments, as described in the Biblical books of Exodus and Deuteronomy, is an icon of moral law. They are the foundation or the definition of morality, Jesus responded to the question of the greatest commandment in (St.Mark 12: 28-34)
"One of the teacher's of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
"The most important one,” answered Jesus, "is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
“Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.
To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.
Moral laws encompass human conscience, principle behaviour and Core inner-voice, the moral laws regulate one judgement, respect and conduct. All people will be held accountable to these laws on judgement day. I should also add that although more centuries have passed before Jesus's birth, more humans have been born on the earth since Christ walked among men.
The Golden Rule is also entwined and connected to the moral laws, the "Golden Rule" was proclaimed by Jesus of Nazareth during his Sermon on the Mount and described by him as the second greatest commandment;
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
Various applications of the Golden Rule are stated positively numerous times in the Old Testament: "Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself Leviticus 19:34: Love foreigners as you love yourselves, "treat them just as you treat your own citizens.
because you were foreigners one time in Egypt. I am the Lord your God." The Bible says that God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. (NLT Acts 17:30).
So the answer to Oprah Winfrey question is they will be judged by the moral laws and the actions of their conscience will judge them
