I Don’t Know About Tomorrow
For the past couple of days, I find myself conversing with friends about tomorrow. This day tomorrow, that’s not known to us. Solomon said in Proverbs 27:1, “boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” I have fallen prey to this scripture in Ephesians 4:26, that urges us believers to, “let not the sun go down upon your wrath.”
Tomorrow, the day following the current day; it also refers to the future. Tomorrow signifies our dependency on the One that knows all about our tomorrow, and days to come. Interestingly, the concept of tomorrow speaks to our human limitations and emphasizes our dependence on the sovereign God. Tomorrow encourages us to live in the present and trust God’s will for tomorrow.
James 4:14, whereas ye know not what shall be on the marrow. For what is your life? …. For that ye ought to say, if the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.” The uncertainty of tomorrow causes us to activate our faith in God’s supremacy. We must be submissive to God’s will and direction for our lives. Because of life’s unpredictability we are cautioned not to be overconfident about our individual plans but with humility and faith rely on God’s will.
The song writer puts it this way, many things about tomorrow, I don’t seem to understand. But I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand.
God Bless.
