For This Cause – Marriage

“And said, for this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh,” Matthew 19:5.

I realize that marriages today lack that sense of purpose and stability. It’s all about what you can do for me, much like cause and effect. This literally means, a relationship between two things, when one thing makes something else happen. One action that affects and result in another thing happening. For this cause; is a Divine appointment, a bond (marriage) that’s natural and moral.

The foundation of marriages was set from creation in Genesis 2:20-25. In verse 24, “therefore” is used instead of, “for this cause”, meaning the very same thing. The English meaning of therefore is- for that reason and or consequently. Verse 20, speaks of the reason why God created woman. Verses 21-22 details how He did it, verse 23 details the acceptation and the naming of woman and verse 24 provides the therefore, which is the inevitability and capsulation; marriage between man and woman.

“…. They twain shall be one flesh”, a union that’s blessed by our divine God, two becoming one. Marriages today are not divinely orchestrated, it’s societal and all about an image. I pray today that our thoughts about marriages will be what God instituted it to be.
