Fill my empty spaces Lord

Fill my empty spaces Lord

Psalm 63:1, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.”

Have you ever been at a place in your life of dryness and feeling empty? Feeling like they are gaps in your life, spaces so to speak? Being in a space of loneliness, yearning for comfort? David spoke of being thirsty and in a dry and thirsty land. He felt like he was in a parched dessert. The literal meaning is a feeling of barrenness, weariness and destitution. A place where it is so hot that there’s a need for water.

Our expectations in life are being tainted by deceptions. These deceptions have created voids, having us clinging to lies. Just like David, sometimes we find ourselves in a place of dehydration, weakness and emptiness. David was betrayed by his son Absolom and he also had to flee from the presence of King Saul to the wilderness of Judah. Many times, we feel like doing the same, running. But Jesus!

In this verse David, uses the words soul and flesh which denotes his entire being. He realized that only God can satisfy his thirst, this dryness. It is only God than can regenerate us and place us in a position of self-worth. David’s soul longs for that feeling, he craves for the satisfaction that can only be aroused by the Holy Spirit. David wanted all the spaces in his life to be filled by God. Can you relate? Are you going through similar feelings? God is able to fill that void!

God Bless.
