Eternal Sabbath-Rest for God's people.
The promise of entering God's rest is available, let us be careful that none of us be found to have fallen short of it.
For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us repeatedly since childhood.
Just as the Israelites were delivered from bondage and enslavement out of Egypt, they heard the words and saw the signs and miracles yet it was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who believed and obeyed.
Just as God has said,“So I declared on oath in my anger,They shall never enter my rest.” (Psalms 95:11)
The works of the Almighty Creator has been finished since the creation of the world, for it was spoken in the Bible about the seventh day.
“On the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made." (Genesis 2:2-3)
The Old Testament is a type and shadow of the New Testament Those who formerly had the "Good News" from bondage to freedom, "the promised land" proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience and rebelliousness
God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time after Moses he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted in Psalms 95:11
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”
For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day.
There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the obedient people of God in this dispensation of Grace,
for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests in God's eternal Sabbath from their works.
Just as God's only son made all things new.
Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following the children of Israel's example of disobedience and rebelliousness.
As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” (Hebrew 3:15)
An entire generation Wondered for 40 years, they died without crossing over into the promises land of milk and honey.
The promises of God are available today for us through the redemptive works of Jesus Christ.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6)
We have the opportunity to cross over into God's eternal Sabbath to rest from the burdens and challenges of the broken world. The bulk of this blog is confirmed in Hebrews chapter four, please read.
