It is said, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity. This metaphor or phrase is linked to personal growth. As Christians, this is directly tied to our spiritual maturity.
This quote, the definition of insanity, first appeared in 1981 in a document published for addicts trying to overcome their habits. In response to this, one person wrote: doing something repeatedly you become good at it. Repetition produces great results. The Bible puts it this way in 2 Timothy 2:15, “study to shew yourself approved unto God a workman that needeth not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Seek is a very powerful word in the Bible. It is mentioned 244 times depending on the version. Seeketh 42 times, seeking 14 times and seekest 9 times. Matthew 6:33 “but seek ye first ….” The original Greek verb for seek implies a continuous habitual pursuit. In other-words, we are to be insanely captivated by the repetitiveness of studying the word and seeking God wholeheartedly.
Being insane is a mental state of mind, doing and saying things that are not of the regular. Spiritual insanity on the other hand is Theia Mania, having an attitude of “Divine Madness”. Meaning, being in a state of spiritual ecstasy. This is when someone’s personal perception of reality is shifted drastically. We become spiritually awaken, intense and disoriented because of continuous encounter with God. Are you “Divinely Insane”?
God Bless.
