Covering sins

If we were aware that God himself was listening in on our conversations, would we speak some of things we spoke? Would we do some of the things we did ? Knowing God was present.

Let me tell you a fact: Nothing can be hidden from God. He is the all seeing, all knowing, ever present God. Our natural human minds cannot wrap our thoughts around that fact. It is the truth.

Listen to these words:

Matthew 12:33 - 37

33“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. 34You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. 36I tell you, on the day of judgement people will give account for every careless word they speak, 37for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

When we are Spirit filled and Spirit led,

We cannot be comfortable in the place of slander, gossip or "uncovering" another who belongs to Christ.

1 Peter 4: 8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since (R)love covers a multitude of sins

And let me take you just a bit further

Proverbs 17:9 - 10

9 Whoever covers an offense seeks love,

but he who repeats a matter separates close friends.

10 A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding

    than a hundred blows into a fool

Lord I ask you today to bridle our tongues, many of us are not even aware of your standards concerning the words we speak. Thinking we are in such right standing because we are not committing the "big sins" of murder and adultery.

May you purify our hearts and cause us to tame the tongue. This scourge of gossip, slander and uncovering others needs to go from the body of Christ so that we can stand in unity Lord
