Compliment Vs Competition

As believers, we're called to be one body, working together in harmony, not competing against each other. The church is not a platform for self-promotion, or sel intrest, but a vessel for God's glory and the greater good of advancing the King's kingdom.

Competition can be destructive, and a Recipe for division fostering an environment of rivalry and strife.

In 1 Corinthians 3:3, Paul writes, "For you are still carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?"

Competition leads to the following 3 things;

1 Division and strife (1 Corinthians 1:10-11)

2. Selfish ambition and pride (Philippians 2:3-4)

3. A focus on individual success over collective growth (1 Corinthians 12:12-27)

In contrast, a complimentary mindset promotes unity, humility, and mutual edification. Romans 12:10 says, "Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another."

Complimentary leads to the following 3 things;

1. Fosters unity and togetherness (Ephesians 4:3)

2. Encourages humility and servitude (Philippians 2:3-4)

3. Builds up the body of Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

The early church in Acts 2:42-47, where believers shared resources and worked together in unity. The apostle Paul's appeal to the Corinthians to give generously, not out of competition, but out of love (2 Corinthians 8:1-15)

May we strive to be a church that embodies the love and unity of Christ, rather than competing against each other. Let's work together, serving God and uplifting one another.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Forgive us for allowing competition to creep into our midst. Help us to focus on unity and the greater good. Give us humble hearts, willing to serve and compliment one another. May our actions reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name.
