Christians Living Single by Minister Marcel and Jacqueline Bruff

Christians Living Single.

(February 24th 2026)

We humans are social beings, we crave companionship, but God's plan for our lives is unique and purposeful.

Living single as a Christian can be a journey filled with both joy and challenges.

When Jesus disciples questioned him about marriage and divorce in Matthew nineteen.

Jesus said to them, “All men cannot receive this saying, save them to whom it is given.”

(Matthew 19:11)

This phrase is where Jesus explains that not everyone can accept the calling of voluntary singleness or celibacy for the kingdom of heaven, save those to whom this special gift or grace is given.

Jesus said, “Not everyone is mature enough to live a married life. It requires a certain aptitude and grace. Marriage isn’t for everyone. Some, from birth seemingly, never give marriage a thought. Others never get asked—or accepted. And some decide not to get married for kingdom reasons. But if you’re capable of growing into the largeness of marriage, do it.”

Jesus said, “For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”

Let's explore how to thrive in singleness, inspired by biblical truths and practical tips.

Embracing Your Singleness

The Bible views singleness as a gift, allowing us to focus on serving God without distraction (1 Corinthians 7:7-8). Jesus Himself remained single, showing us that marital status doesn't define our worth or purpose (Matthew 19:12). "You are precious and honored in my sight, and I love you" (Isaiah 43:4).

Six Ways to Cope with Singleness Challenges.

- Build Meaningful Connections, invest in friendships and community, serving others and sharing life's joys and struggles (Proverbs 17:17). "God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing" (Psalm 68:6).

Cultivate a Strong Prayer Life. Draw closer to God, finding comfort and guidance in His presence (Psalm 142:2). "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).

Focus on Personal Growth. Pursue passions, learn new skills, and prioritize self-care (Philippians 4:11-13). "I am fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14).

Serve Others. Find purpose in serving the church and community, reflecting God's love (Matthew 20:28). "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works" (Ephesians 2:10).

Meditate on God's Word. Renew your mind with biblical truths, combating loneliness and doubt (Philippians 4:8). "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord" (Psalm 27:14).

Practice Gratitude.

Shift focus to blessings, trusting God's plan and timing (1 Thessalonians 5:18). "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances" (Philippians 4:11).

Prayer for Single Persons.

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You as single individuals, seeking comfort, guidance, and purpose. Help us to embrace our singleness as a gift, focusing on serving You and building meaningful connections with others. Strengthen our prayer lives, and fill us with Your Holy Spirit, may your joy and peace cover them. May we trust in Your plan and timing, knowing You have a future filled with hope for all singles and alone.

Amen!
