Bless your enemies

When God fills one with his Spirit, Agape love will overflow to all around. Love will never be a measure of whether someone has been good or bad. We simply can do nothing but love. Christ in us means such freedom and liberty.

God is love and he created each and every one of us with the capacity to love. Those involved in the worship of other gods will contest this, but think on this carefully - even a hardened criminal can love their own children. Even satanic worshippers, tend and care for their babies.

Of course there are deviations to the norm, but it is absolutely totally unnatural for a human being never to love or feel compassion for an entire lifetime.

Now let's think on this - the way we process offences and painful experiences is learned behaviour. Hardness of heart grows as one begins to keep offences and hold grudges. That is why God gives us the instruction to bless even our enemies.

When holding a grudge - think carefully what one has done - they have locked their own selves in a prison. While the other who has caused such a deep wound has simply moved on with their life sometimes even unaware of the damage they have done.

Here is the truth - in even our best relationships, the other individual will at some point cause us pain. AND the closer the individual is to you is the deeper the wound. Spiritual maturity is measured by the ability to let go and let God. It is measured in how quickly we forgive. We would have no friends who became enemies if we continued to extend love, grace and mercy. Let's ask God for the grace to do so.

Christ never ministered to those who were lovable, good and kind. The word actually says he came to seek and save the lost. God loved us first, he extended underserved love grace and mercy to us.

So how to make a difference in this world? To influence others for Christ's sake may we truly love with the Agape - Not just those who love us or "deserve" our love. Begin to bless and pray for those enemies. This world will become a better place if we love with the Agape and not treat others as they deserve to be treated.

Amen

Matthew 5:43 - 48

43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'

44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

47 And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?

48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Amen
