As promised from the Sunday message on YouTube here is the teaching on how we should treat our enemies.
How do we define an enemy?
The individuals who oppose God’s will for our life. That can even include your own family and friends, both at home and within the church . Bear in mind that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against Principalities, Powers, Rulers of the Darkness of this world and Spiritual wickedness in High places (these are the ranks and heirachy of demonic spirits from the Kingdom of Darkness - see Ephesians 6)
We are in a daily battle and sometimes we can just be taken by surprise at the vehemence, vendetta, anger and pure brutality coming from other human beings.
This is our first recourse in dealing with enemies GO TO GOD and listen to these steps of continuing to walk in freedom.
Submit the situation to God and move in the direction of forgiving and forgetting. Forgiving and Forgetting means we leave everything in God's hands. If we choose not to forget, we hold a grudge and stumble, we remain offended. We keep it in the memory faculty ie. The realm of our soul. It will therefore begin to affect our thinking, our choosing and the way we feel. The matter will continue to stir an emotion in us every time the enemy reminds us of it and it will certainly begin to replay in our other relationships. Now I didn't say this is easy to do - letting go - We need God's grace and it takes time. Think on this if we get a scratch it heals quickly, unless something else is wrong, but if we are in an accident it takes much longer to heal. So it is with emotional wounds "the blows" will take much longer to heal, especially if it was from someone close to us or it was an authority figure eg. Parents or Church Leaders. No matter how deep the wound is God wants to heal us, but we must first let go
We do not know someone else's end, we may be holding onto a matter, when they have long ago repented and God has grown them. Give mercy, as we have been given undeserved mercy from God. He has a way of teaching and disciplining his children. We ought not to move into praying imprecatory prayers which is considered to be Witchcraft, if someone has hurt or wounded us. Our responsibility is to walk in freedom, continue to be a vessel through whom God can pour out his love and surrender all our issues to God
God's clear instruction is to Bless our enemies.
Romans 12
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly.Never be wise in your own sight.17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave itto the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
God help us to move in obedience to every word you speak. Give us the grace and strength to do all you require of us. Cause us to walk in true freedom and liberty.
In Jesus name
Amen
Walk good in Christ
