A Soldiers Perseverance

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ,” 2 Timothy 2:3.

I love everything surrounding law enforcement or should I say, most things. The police, the special forces, the armed forces and agencies are set up to keep the peace. I watch a lot of shows that deal with law enforcement. There is a level of cohesiveness among every member of the group; they are a family.

I am fascinated with their uniforms; how equipped they are. There are pockets and areas on the uniform to hold all the gadgets needed to be effective in the field. When they are on a call, and you see them moving through to apprehend the perpetrators, their movements are always meticulous. All this reflects the image of a soldier in God’s army.

As soldiers we must be able to endure hardship. An army is defined as a military group or a group of people organized for a particular purpose. As children of God, our purpose is to spread the God news. “…. Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature,” Mark 16:15. The Christian life must be one of focus and a willingness to suffer for the gospel. Everything about Christianity speaks of cohesiveness and perseverance. Our cohesiveness is built around unity. “Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace,” Ephesians 4:3. Perseverance speaks to our endurance.

We are constantly at war with the enemy, are you prepared?
