Tomorrow

Are you enjoying today? “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it,” Psalm 118:24.

The word of the Lord in Matthew 6:34 says, “take therefore no thought for the morrow; for the marrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” After reading this scripture the other day, I delved into the later part of it; “sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” I have read this verse many times and it has not hit me this hard before. With all the uncertainties we face in life today, where is today’s enjoyment?

Our intense thoughts of tomorrow have caused us to have minimal enjoyment today. Each day have its own sufficient evil. This means each day carries its own trouble, challenges and potential problems. Why then do we burden down today by our worrying about future events. (This is so speaking to me). The evil, speaks about our daily trouble, our hardships and anxieties that are natural occurrences in life. Why do we use this evil of tomorrow to hinder our today’s joy?

God’s providence is worth trusting. The word of the Lord says, “therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on, ….,” Matthew 6:25. Jesus encourages us to focus by faith on our present day and allow His grace to provide for tomorrow.
