God restores our Soul

Good morning beloved.

In Psalm 23 the Psalmist gives thanks for God restores his soul?

Why do we need restoration?

Life can send some "bruises" at times and the place where we keep the "mark" of those wounds and scourges is our soul. The soul is the faculty from which flows what we think, what we feel and what we choose.

Now if something else rests in our soul. We will not be free to worship, receive all that God has for us, have healthy relationships and so much more.

The heart and soul is used interchangeably in the bible in some passages.

Here is some pertinent information I found in an adaptation

Think about your life as being directed by three different streams - Heart, Soul, and Mind. Our hearts represent the core of our being, the part of us we surrender to God when receiving salvation. Our mind determines the thoughts we think - positive/negative, encouraging/destructive, loving/hateful, life/death.In between rests our soul. The soul provides a filter between our heart and mind that determines whether we are living as Jesus lives and enjoying abundant life, or not. Most agree that the soul primarily represents a person's emotional hub and forms our beliefs about life. Feelings and desires flow from the soul. Our soul can fuel our thoughts and influence our behaviors. A healthy soul tethers the mind to the Spirit in our hearts to keep us in sync with Father God. A broken soul leads to internal fragmentation, making it difficult to hear God's voice and walk in obedience and purity.

Know this God wants to restore our soul. He wants to make us whole. He wants us to be able to receive the fullness of his love, forgiveness and mercy. He wants to pour out his anointing and glory in and through us

No more will you walk in the place of identifying yourself as being less than or not deserving of God's best.

This is a very significant year for you. You will cross over into wholeness.

God will not only heal you of those old "haunting" episodes, but to begin the process of healing we must first LET GO and not only let go, but

LET GOD!

Letting go begins with first forgiving.

I looked up scientifically how long the pain of emotional wounds are supposed to last and you will be surprised at what I found. Lemme share with you now.

The idea that emotions only last 90 seconds refers to the initial chemical surge from a trigger, which, according to neuroscientist Jill Bolte Taylor, dissipates within 90 seconds; any lingering feeling after that is sustained by your thoughts and mental engagement, not the original chemical reaction, meaning you can choose to let it go or keep feeding it with your mind. So, the pure emotional experience is brief, but our interpretation and rumination can make it feel much longer, often turning a fleeting feeling into a prolonged emotional state.

Many of us can understand it's as if something is holding us back and the patterns seem to continue.

The truth is those "unhealed wounds" play back again and again. The enemy is known as the enemy of our soul and he takes occupation in those unrestored places of our soul, thus affecting our thinking, our feeling and our choices

We need to be delivered of all evil. No longer can the enemy have a foot hold in our lives...we must LET GO NOW.

So that we can come into freedom and a place of wholeness and restoration.

Adaptation below

In the Bible, restoration means God bringing something or someone back to a former condition, often making it better, new, or whole again, encompassing spiritual healing (renewing the heart), relational reconciliation (returning to God), and physical renewal or recovery, symbolizing God's redemptive power to heal creation and humanity from sin's damage. It's about more than just returning to the past; it's about entering a richer, improved future through divine intervention, as seen in Israel's return from exile and Jesus' healing ministry.

Unforgiveness, holding onto to past hurts and pain can only hurt our own selves not the other.

Give it all to Jesus ...let it go.

You may say but Pastor you don't understand. You don't know how bad that thing is that they did to me.

I do understand I was abused mentally, emotionally and physically but God’s purpose and relationship with him was of greater importance and value in my life, than anything I ever suffered in this world. I pray God will give you that mindset - the mind of Christ, a mind set on things above in Jesus name

Amen

Walk good in Christ

Till we meet again

Pastor J
